The similarity between language and landscapes is expressed through ‘linguistic’ mark-making within the environment. Here, this idea is explored through graphic texture, by computationally generating multitudes of formal iterations and combining them to form an extruded surface. The resulting texture, drawing from a text as its source, resembles an urban landscape—the letters of single words stack to form the individual blocks of a ‘city’, its appearance unique to the content of the imported text. Variance lies in the relationship of the blocks to one another—each extruded shape is unique.
